Sunday Recap for October 2, 2016:

Everyday Prayer
Please note! Sunday Recaps will be arriving in your inboxes mid-week as an encouraging, edifying interruption in the middle of your life, a reminder of our time worshipping God together as family in Christ, sharing His goodness with everyone who came in, in anticipation of doing it again the coming Sunday and forever in His presence! However, sermons will still be posted on Mondays :)
Question #39: With what attitude should we pray?

Answer: With love, perseverance, and gratefulness; in humble submission to God's will, knowing that, for the sake of Christ, he always hears our prayers.
Mission Highlight: Thank you Suzy and her family for sharing about the Giving Jars we will be doing together as a church!

This month, we would like to do a donation drive for Hands at Work, specifically to Mcheneke community, the one that Christ Church partners with and supports. For the whole month of October, let's together as a church think about our blessings and about how our giving overflows from the abundance the Lord gives us.

The challenge is not just to give money, but to grow in gratefulness and generosity as a church.

Giving Jars:

  1. Consider giving up a treat and placing the money you would spend on the treat to put in the jar... OR, match it! Go ahead and treat yourself, but the amount that you spend on your treat, consider giving that amount, as if you are treating some children in Mcheneka.
  2. Keep putting money in the jar for the whole month of October.
  3. At the end of the month, bring the money you collected, minus the jar. We hope to do this twice a year so save your jar!
  4. If you have stories to tell regarding the Giving Jars, or about being thankful, please email them to Suzy. We would love to hear how the Lord blesses and challenges us this month.
This Week's Sermon: "The Lord's Prayer"  (Matthew 6:9-13)

Thank you Dr. Tim Wiarda for sharing the Word of God with us this Sunday on the Lord's Prayer! We appreciated the new insights, and may we not ignore, but earnestly listen to the things Jesus told us to ask for and bring before God each and every day. May all of us daily, faithfully express of our relationship with God in prayer. And may the model of prayer that Jesus gave us--in an appropriate way for each one of us--align our hearts, attitudes and the direction of our lives to that of God's.

Next week, we look forward to welcoming and meeting our sister church Grace Alameda's Pastor Kaiwan Su and listen to what God has to say to us through him!
