Newsletter for the Week of
June 5, 2016

We sing because God tells us to, to remember the truth, to build up others, to make war against the enemy, to strengthen ourselves for trial, to enter a God-designed pathway to joy.
We sing to glorify God!

This week's Sermon: "Order Your Desires" (Ecclesiastes 12:9-14)

Desire drives life. The problem for each one of us is that sin and brokenness disorder our desire. But desire is not the problem. Desire is good. Desire is a capacity given to us by God. God does not want us to diminish desire. God wants us to increase our desire and set our desire on the right things. We need to know our desires and let God’s wisdom order our desires.
.
Main Idea: Order your desires.

Question #22: Why must the Redeemer be truly human?

Answer: That in human nature that he might on our behalf perfectly obey the whole law and suffer the punishment for human sin; and also that he might sympathize with our weakness.

Mission Highlight: Thank you Rebecca for introducing yourself as the new Mission Highlight Coordinator and for encouraging us to vote this Tuesday, June 7. For those of you who are involved in a ministry, organization or activity where God has sent you to be salt and light, please email Rebecca to share before our congregation! It is a great way to encourage and inspire the body to act on our mission to make disciples, to love and serve, as well as being a beautiful witness to those who do not yet trust Christ.

This Tuesday, June 7, is election day. There are several ballot measures and offices to be filled, including the presidential primaries. Here are some helpful links:
"'Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, to all the exiles whom I have sent into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon: 'Build houses and live in them; plant gardens and eat their produce. Take wives and have sons and daughters; take wives for your sons, and give your daughters in marriage, that they may bear sons and daughters; multiply there, and do not decrease. But seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the LORD on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare." (Jeremiah 29:4-7)

Voting is a way we can seek the welfare of the city where we live. Please prayerfully consider and learn about the different candidates and measures on the ballot, and please remember to vote on Tuesday!
