Mission Highlight: Thank you Amanda and Andrew for sharing the Mission Highlight! Here is what they shared:

This week, a team from our sister church, Wellspring, is serving in Mcheneke, Malawi in partnership with Hands at Work. Most of us have heard about the work Hands at Work is doing to care for orphans and the vulnerable in Africa. Together with Wellspring and Grace Alameda, we (Christ Church) support this community financially, but we also send a team each year to connect us with God's work there and with the global church. We go to build relationships with the care-workers, the local believers who have answered God's call on their lives to care for the orphans and vulnerable in their community. We learn their stories, pray for them, worship with them, and serve the children alongside them. We also share our stories with them, receive prayer, and learn from their selfless love and sacrifice. We visit the children in their homes to learn their stories and to show them that we care to know them by name and show them God's love personally, not just by donating money from afar. The trips typically include projects that are designed to meet a tangible need of the children and/or care-workers as well. Remember the Wellspring team and the community in Mcheneke in your prayers this week and join us in prayer for them now.

Thank you Lord for the work you are doing in Malawi. It is amazing to see what you are doing in and through the local churches in Mcheneke as they daily go into their communities and show the love of Christ to orphans, widows, and the most oppressed in there communities.

Thank you Lord for the team from Wellspring in Malawi right now. Thank you for their willingness to go and be a part of your work in Malawi. We ask that you would watch over and protect them as they travel and that you would be with them as they travel within the communities in Malawi.

We ask Lord that the team from Wellspring would be a blessing and an encouragement to the care-workers in Mcheneke. We pray that as the team goes into different houses on holy home visits that your spirit would allow them to hear the struggles and sorrows of the women and children and they would be able to shed tears for the afflicted, shower them with prayers, give hugs, and encourage them with scripture.

We lift up Jim and Scott as they are returning to Malawi for the second time and are leading this team. We pray that when they return to Mcheneke that it would be a joyful time to see brothers and sisters they met in their last visit. We also pray that your spirit Lord would empower Jim and Scott as they lead this team and give them wisdom in this role.

We also lift up Nelly, Sarah, Ben, Jennifer, Stephanie & Jason who are going for their first time and ask that you would be with them when they are confronted with the really sad and painful realities of the people in the community. Also that you would help them to see the joy that the people have in you Lord in spite of their hardships.

We lift up the children that are going on the trip: Jack, Audrey, Abigail, Sydney, Karis, Isaiah, Joshua, and Hannah. We pray that they would be a unique blessing to the children in the community as they play and relate to the kids in a way their parents may not be able to.

Lord be with our brothers and sisters in Mcheneke. In Jesus' name. Amen.
Question #23: Why must the Redeemer be truly God?

Answer: That because of his divine nature his obedience and suffering would be perfect and effective; and also that he would be able to bear the righteous anger of God against sin and yet overcome death.
