Sunday Recap for January 28, 2017:
The Head and the Spirit

Mission Highlight: Thank you Stephen for giving your update about your family's move to Vilafranca Del Penedés. Stephen Phillips was one of Christ Church's first missionaries that we supported. The Phillips family has moved to Vilafranca Del Penedés, which is southwest of Vilassar de Mar. where they had previously served for decades. They are now at an 85 year old church that is beginning to consider planting other churches, taking the gospel to places where people haven't heard it, including where there are immigrants from Muslim countries. Stephen has been helping with the leadership of the church, helping with the youth, where they have teens that are Senegalese Muslim and secular a regular part of the church's youth group. Naíme and Stephen are helping and doing leadership training, and Stephen is teaching New Testament Greek at the seminary as well.

Please continue to pray for the church to have a passion to take the gospel to those who have not heard it before.

Lastly, Stephen gave a huge thank you for sending a team last summer to run the English camp. The parents of the children said, "we don't know what you're doing, but our kids have fallen in love with you." We pray that through these relationships God give them the ears to hear the justice and healing in Christ's name as they continue to preach grace.
Question #2: What is God?

Answer: God is the creator and sustainer of everyone and everything. He is eternal, infinite, and unchangeable in his power and perfection, goodness and glory, wisdom, justice, and truth. Nothing happens except through him and by his will.
Link to this Week's Sermon: “The Head and the Spirit" (Ephesians 1:15-23)

“The mysteries of prayer remain, but they dissolve in worship and gratitude. It is far easier to accept the mysteries of divine sovereignty when the divine love is as great as the divine sovereignty.” (D.A. Carson, Praying with Paul)

“The church becomes irrelevant when it becomes purely a human creation. We are not all we were made to be when everything in our lives and churches can be explained apart from the work and presence of the Spirit of God.” (Francis Chan, Forgotten God)

Main Idea: A decapitated body is a dead body.
