Sunday Recap for June 10, 2018:
The Bold Church

Mission Highlight: Thank you Katelyn for sharing about the InterVarsity Christian Fellowship you are a part of at University of San Francisco (USF). InterVarsity is a vibrant campus ministry that establishes and advances witnessing communities of students and faculty in every corner of campus.

Katelyn herself was a part of InterVarsity as a college student at UC Davis, which is where she fell in love with Jesus and His mission. She reflected on all her staff workers that worked with her during the four years and how each of them discipled her and cared for her in different ways.

Now, Katelyn serves with InterVarsity at USF. She just finished her second of her four years of commitment. While she just finished one of the toughest seasons of ministry, she wanted to share about Zac who gave her so much hope.

Zac is a senior who joined InterVarsity in the middle of his last semester of college. He had a falling out with his friend group and a difficult break up. He converted to Catholicism during college and struggled to find Christian Community. He said that InterVarsity was the best community at USF, and that being with other Christians inspired him to seek spiritual guidance in his everyday life. His friends encouraged him through hardships and towards prayer, and through community, found a deeper connection with God than before. Katelyn encouraged us to envision many other students and faculty at USF finding authentic community as a part of the loving body of Christ.

InterVarsity’s vision is to see students and faculty transformed, campuses renewed, and the world changers developed. They minister to students and faculty through small group Bible studies, large group gatherings, leadership training, thoughtful discipleship, and life-changing mission trips.

Katelyn is gathering a team of people who can come alongside her and college students. She invited us to prayerfully consider what it would look like to partner with how God is moving in the lives of college students in San Francisco and to chat with her after service on ways to get involved. If you weren’t able to chat with her please email her!

Then Katelyn prayed for the college students, the ministry, and for God to be glorified. Let’s continue to pray for InterVarsity and Katelyn!
This Week's Sermon: “The Bold Church" (Acts 4)

“We have become strangers because we have become strange! Our values, lifestyle, and priorities are radically different from the surrounding culture. Our faith makes us strangers in our own land. We do not fit in. We are on the margins.” -Steve Timmis and Tim Chester in Total Church
