Sunday Recap for October 23, 2016:
Fellowship with Jesus

Mission Highlight: Thank you Toby for sharing this video you took with Blessings, who is a volunteer for Hands at Work. Hands at Work is an organization we partner with to serve the most vulnerable in Africa, especially our sister community, Mcheneka, Malawi. Through Hand at Work, we are sent out with the posture of listening and learning about how we can support local leadership and our brothers and sisters in Christ, and every time we go out to visit them, we go in submission to the local church leaders there. Here, Blessings tells us about how Hands at Work supports careworkers or caregivers who provide direct care and love to the orphans and children below the starvation line, though they themselves are just above the starvation line. Please check out the video! As we also listen and learn through our long-term relationship with them, let's continue to pray for and support in any way we can the work God is doing through Hands at Work.
Question #42: How is the Word of God to be read and heard?
Answer: With diligence, preparation, and prayer; so that we may accept it with faith, store it in our hearts, and practice it in our lives.
This week's Sermon: "Fellowship with Jesus" (Mark 8:27-33)

We have talked a lot over the last number of months about how much our reality is shaped by our relationships. That is how God made us as human beings. And it is no less true for the original Apostles. Each of them was profoundly shaped by their relationship with Jesus. These ordinary human beings knew Jesus. They were close friends with Jesus. They ate with him. Lived alongside of him. Prayed with him. Laughed with him. Cried with him. Ministered with him. They knew Jesus. And they were shaped and transformed by that relationship.
Main Idea: Discipleship is relationship.
