Sunday Recap for October 1, 2017:
True and False Witness

Mission Highlight: Thank you, Vanessa and Hannah for sharing about Christ Church Youth Group! Christ Church youth group is made up of middle to high schoolers, meeting together after service for about 20 minutes to discuss questions and thoughts about the sermon. To illustrate some of its fruit, Hannah shared how she used to struggle to fully grasp everything preached on Sunday alone, but by going through the questions created by Toby and other preachers in a group closer to her own age, is able to dig deeper into the word and relationships with her peers. By having regularly scheduled get-togethers, she has been blessed by getting to know other young adults she would perhaps not see during service.

We are thankful to God for giving us this group and their desire to grown in relationship with him and each other. Our prayer is that they would be further equipped and knit together in love, as our congregation further encourages them to follow Christ.
Link to this Week's Sermon: “True and False Witness" (Mark 14:66-72)

“… when it comes to knowing God, we bring absolutely nothing to the table. Not even tried-and-true analogies can bridge the gap between us and the God who is beyond all analogies. For example, we see power in nature, and we use that as a starting point to talk about God’s unlimited power. God’s power, we assume, must be like nature’s power, only God’s power must be much greater, greater to an infinite degree. This is how the discussion of God’s attributes often begins. But the very category of power, like all human analogies … is merely a human construct and therefore inadequate to talk about God.” (Mark Galli)
“His first coming was in humility; his second will be in glory.” (Justin Martyr)
Main Idea: All of Him, none of us.
