Sunday Recap for October 29, 2017:
Elect Exiles and Born Again

Next Baby Dedication: Sunday, November 19th, 2017
Baby dedications are time for us to thank God for the new children, and pray for the parents and new children of the congregation and publicly commit to raising the child up in the ways of the Lord together. If you are a new parent at Christ Church and would like your family to be a part of this, please email us!
Mission Highlight: Thank you, Andy, for sharing about Hiinga this Sunday. Andy opened up with Scripture from Jeremiah 2 as a challenge and encouragement from God. Last time he visited Christ Church, it was during a season of discouragement, and now he is some great news. Hiinga, which means "cultivate" in his language, was launched in 2012, and since then they have helped rural farmers in Uganda, making over 15,000 loans and directly impacting 80,000 lives. Through their work, the gospel, or good news of Jesus, is being shared and leaders are being mentored. If you would like to join in the work God is doing through Hiinga, there are a number of ways to get involved:
  • Technology volunteers are needed!
  • PRAYER "Prayer is not a cliche; prayer has sustained us" as many divine appointments were made through prayer, despite their small size
  • Come and mobilize others to Uganda Summer 2018. Uganda is known as the Pearl of Africa! They would love a visit!
  • Sponsor a micro entrepreneur for $30/month
  • Give ideas and insight!
If you are interested in partnering in any of these ways, please email Andy and/or check out their website! Let's all continue to pray for the work that the Lord is doing in Uganda through Hiinga!
Some marketing for Uganda! Come visit Hiinga and also see one of God's amazing creatures!
Link to this Week's Sermon: “Elect Exiles and Born Again" (1 Peter 1:1-12)

“The people who keep asking if they can't lead a decent life without Christ, don't know what life is about; if they did they would know that 'a decent life' is mere machinery compared with the thing we men are really made for.” (C.S. Lewis)
“They were different from their non-Christian neighbors— some perhaps because of immigrant status, but all because of their allegiance to Jesus Christ as opposed to anything or anyone else, up to and including the emperor. People on the margins have little power and influence in society. Yet they may still make a profound impact on the world when they are able to persevere and live according to the ways of the Lord Jesus.”  (Dennis Edwards)
Main Idea: Life is fellowship with Jesus.
