Sunday Recap for April 15, 2018:
Walk Carefully

Mission Highlight: Thank you Amanda for sharing the Mission Highlight this Sunday! Amanda shared how San Francisco City Impact (SFCI) is a non-profit Christian organization that has been serving the people of the Tenderloin for 30+ years through many different ministries that are aimed at meeting both spiritual and physical needs of the residents of San Francisco's inner city. Coming up this summer, the San Francisco City Impact Conference is a great opportunity to join SFCI in serving the people of the Tenderloin, whether you only have one day to give or are interested in learning how to get more involved on a regular basis.

What: One day of worship and biblical justice through 45+ outreaches including meal delivery to SRO residents, haircuts, dog washing, medical services, street cafe (dining with TL residents), a kid's carnival and more!
When: Saturday, July 14 from 8:30am to 6:00pm
Where: The Warfield Theatre and SF Tenderloin neighborhood
Registration Fee: $79 before April 30, $99 through June 30, group rates available

Let's continue to pray together this week, as Amanda led us in prayer:
Father, thank you that you came to each one of us when we were broken and had nothing to offer you. Even now, what do we have to give but our very lives? Stir our hearts to compassion and our bodies to good works. Bring your people from all over the country to be the hands and feet of Jesus in the Tenderloin of San Francisco. Be glorified in our faithful obedience as your Spirit transforms the lives both of those serving and the ones being served. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
Question #15: Since no one can keep the law, what is its purpose?
Answer: That we may know the holy nature and will of God, and the sinful nature and disobedience of our hearts; and thus our need of a Savior. The law also teaches and exhorts us to live a life worthy of our Savior.
This Sunday we prayed for Ryan, who came from Arizona to be one of the planting members of Christ Church. His years of friendship, support, fellowship, and joyful and tireless service, especially in tech, set up, and other countless ways, were a huge blessing to our church. He returns to Arizona for a business opportunity and plans to return to San Francisco. We blessed and sent him with love and prayer to do the Lord's work in Arizona, and we hope to see him again soon!
Link to this Week's Sermon: “Walk Carefully" (Ephesians 5:15-21)

“It is not from any wish that you should be proficient, and accomplished, that he gives this advice. But what he means is this. The time is not yours.” (Chrysostom, 4th Century)
“Your greatest danger is letting the urgent things crowd out the important.”
(Charles E. Hummel, Tyranny of the Urgent)
“Alongside the Roman church’s diversity in race, rank and sex, it experienced a profound unity which transcended its differences. For ‘there is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus’.”  (John Stott, The Message of Romans)
Main Idea: Walk carefully.
