Sunday Recap for June 24, 2018:
A Cry for Conviction

Family Play Date before Service, July 15th and July 29th!
A great way for young families to get to know each other a little better this summer, especially since some CGs are on break. Please join us at Rossi Playground (600 Arguello Blvd) on 7/15 and 7/29 from 9:30am-10:20am. The park is only a 5 minute walk from church, so it may be best to park at the church and then walk over.
On Sunday, August 19th, we will be gathering at Chapel of Our Lady in the Presidio (45 Moraga Ave.), at our usual time, 10:30 AM - 12 PM. There is ample paid parking, and some free curbside parking if you come early! Off the Grid is happening afterwards as well, so feel free to have lunch afterwards! Hope to see you there!
Mission Highlight: Thank you Joanna for sharing with us about Young Life in San Francisco! 1 Thessalonians 2:8 states "...Because we loved you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well." (NIV). This shows in the way Young Life does ministry to non-believing middle school and high school students, sharing the gospel and their lives with them, by volunteering, building relationships, and then hosting youth groups for non-Christian kids in middle school and high school.

Joanna shared that one great thing about kids in San Francisco is that they know they are vulnerable--many of them live in crowded apartments with many family members, have single parents, or parents with language barriers. 60% of kids in San Francisco public schools receive government paid lunch because their families are unable to afford to.

Many kids Young Life volunteers meet are shocked to learn they are Christians, because many of the times, Young Life volunteers are the first Christians they've met. These kids could be 17 years old and have never heard the gospel of Jesus before.

There are 50 public middle and high schools in San Francisco, and Young Life is currently at seven of them. Their vision is in 50 years, Young Life would be at every one of those schools. This requires more volunteers and resources, and prayer! Everyone can be a Young Life leader, since different teens connect to different types of people.

Joanna led us in prayer for the teens in San Francisco, for Young Life. If you are interested in how you can get involved, please email her!
Question #23: Why must the Redeemer be truly God?
Answer: That because of his divine nature his obedience and suffering would be perfect and effective; and also that he would be able to bear the righteous anger of God against sin and yet overcome death.
This Week's Sermon: “A Cry for Conviction" (John 16:7-11)

Main Idea: We’ll never be out of danger until we turn from sin. We’ll never turn from sin until we’re confronted with the severity of it. Due to the deceptive nature of sin, we’ll never confront this reality on our own without the illuminating work of God’s Holy Spirit. For this reason, we must cry out to the Spirit for conviction of sin.
