Sunday Recap for May 27, 2018:
The Heart of Ephesians

Mission Highlight: Thank you Natalie and Cory for sharing with us about Real Intern SF! Natalie and Cory go to First Presbyterian and have lived in San Francisco for five years. They both came to the city as interns at tech companies.

Thousands of interns come to San Francisco every summer (no official count exists), including college students who are paid to work for a company during summer break (3 months). For them, and for many interns in the Bay Area, internships usually turn into a return job offer and an opportunity to move to San Francisco. Many interns are lonely and not in community. They are taken out of their contexts and moved to somewhere new, for only three months. Most of them are not Christians.

The Real Intern SF was started by Cory and Natalie after taking Perspectives on the World Christian Movement. They felt God calling them to love on interns while they were here in San Francisco--and after many of them come back for full time jobs. They asked, What if every intern who came to SF this summer met a Christian? What if these friendships lasted for longer than the summer?

This is a simple ministry of welcome and hospitality to these college students, not a step in a program. The goal is for interns to witness a reflection of God's Kingdom through these community dinners. They encouraged us to be ourselves and let God do the rest! The interns connect with us via a Facebook page, and then they are offered events to meet other interns and to meet us, San Francisco locals.

To get involved, please pray for God to draw SF interns to himself! This is God's work, not ours. God allows us to participate in his redemptive plan. One concrete way to help if we feel God calling us to this ministry is to host a dinner in our homes for some summer interns. If we connect with The Real Intern SF, they will connect us with some hungry interns. Please use this link if you'd like to sign up to host a dinner or email if there are any questions about The Real Intern SF.  Some notes are that we can host with a friend, and we don't have to be in tech. We can also stay connected with the interns after hosting them for dinner. Let's continue to be in prayer for interns that come to SF and that this ministry of hospitality be fruitful to the glory of God!
Question #20: Who is the Redeemer?
Answer: The only Redeemer is the Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, in whom God became man and bore the penalty for sin himself.
Link to this Week's Sermon: “The Heart of Ephesians" (Ephesians)
This sermon was the final sermon of our sermon series from Ephesians, "Built Up In Love." Seng gave us a summary of the book of Ephesians, and gave us reflection questions to take away from it: Whose workmanship am I? Have I been remade? What are the good works I will walk in?

Main Idea: Know God, know ourselves in Christ.
