Sunday Recap for March 17, 2019:
Passion and Prayer

Mission Highlight: This Sunday, we presented the team going to Spain this summer before the congregation. Those confirmed going (left to right) are Leon, Hannah, Jonah, Courtney, Jason, Jen, Vivienne, Alicia, Cristian, Seng, Kellan, Cameron, Rebekah, Ronan, Julie, Christina and Toby and Aidan (not pictured). Please encourage them and pray for them, engage with them in conversation to better understand the trip, why they are going, and how you can pray for them and support them.

The English camp (6/24-28) will be in Vilafranca, Spain, where less than half of one percent are evangelical Christian. By providing a service they want (English instruction), it is an opportunity to help the local church build relationships and love and serve the community.

Let's remember to keep them in prayer!
This Week's Sermon: “Passion and Prayer" (James 4:1-10)

“Thinking, arguments, and beliefs are crucial as means of moving the heart, but ultimately we are what we adore. We are what captures our imagination, what leads us to praise and to compel others to praise it. Our inordinate anger, anxiety, and discouragement result from disordered loves. Our relational problems result from disordered loves, and our social and cultural problems as well.” --Timothy Keller, Prayer: Experiencing Awe and Intimacy with God

“It is no use to ask God with factitious earnestness for A when our whole mind is in reality filled with the desire for B. We must lay before him what is in us, not what ought to be in us … It may well be that the desire can be laid before God only as a sin to be repented; but one of the best ways of learning this is to lay it before God … If we lay all the cards on the table, God will help us moderate the excesses.” --C. S. Lewis, Letters to Malcolm, Chiefly on Prayer

Main Idea: Anger is pride that keeps us from peace with God.

-One to two slides volunteers needed! Once a month, you would help prepare the liturgy slides, help set up on Sunday mornings, and then operate the slides that Sunday. If you're interested, please email us

-Hands at Work Gathering this Saturday, March 23rd. Hands at Work is an organization we've been partnering with for almost a decade to hep serve the most vulnerable in Mcheneka, Malawi. Please join us on 3/23 for dinner, community updates and prayer. An evite has gone out but please email us if you didn't get it.

-Next Theology Uncorked next Sunday, March 24th at 5pm (location TBA). Come and grab a cup of coffee, a glass of wine, or a beer and be ready for some lively conversation. We will be working through Michael Horton's Pilgrim Theology over the course of the year. The goal of this time will be to learn how to think theologically about our lives and our world. An email will go out!

-Seven Children's Ministry volunteers needed! Folks traveling during the summer and having babies has created a need in Sunday Coordinating, High School, Stand-by Parents, and Grade School teaching. An excellent way to serve the children and families at our church that they may know Christ. All of these roles are once a month:
-Two Sunday Coordinators: welcome families, check in kids, float around for assistance, preschool/toddler check out.
-One woman High School Volunteer: Facilitate sermon discussions after service, build relationships with teens, monthly socials.
-Two Stand-by Parents: Be on call to help watch preschool/toddlers in case there are 13+ kids.
-Two Grade School Teachers: teach and lead grade school using lesson plan provided, build relationships, keep kids safe.

-Easter Baptisms are coming up! Baptism is one of the sacraments that Jesus commanded, a beautiful, public, symbolic act to show that you are dead to your old self and born again in Christ. If you are interested in being baptized or know anyone considering it, please let us know! The baptisms will be on April 21st, and we would like to know by April 7th.
