Sunday Recap for May 19, 2019:
Wisdom and Happiness

Mission Highlight: Thank you Leon for sharing the Mission Highlight on District 4. In order to love our cities as Jesus has taught us to do, we must know our city. Leon has lived in the Sunset for more than 45 years. District 4 is from Ocean Beach/Great Highway to 19th avenue going from West to East and Sloat Blvd to Lincoln Way going South to North, and it is known as the “suburban part of San Francisco” to some. Some facts are:
  • The Sunset is mostly made of resident homes, schools and small businesses.
  • Total population approximately 75,120
  • Predominately Asian - households at 57%
  • White/Caucasian is second largest group at 35%
Then Leon led us in prayer for District 4, praying that the gospel can people in district 4, for strong gospel centered churches, for road repairs, safety, cleanliness, friendly community. Let's continue to pray for, love, and act in the interests of the best welfare of the city!
This Sunday, our Creed came from "Labors of Community" from Every Moment Holy

This Week's Sermon: “Wisdom and Happiness" (Ecclesiastes 2:22-25)

“When finally we discover that all the pleasures we pursue under the sun cannot satisfy our souls, then maybe we will look beyond this world. Our unsatisfied longings are a spiritual clue that we were made to enjoy the pleasures of God. This world leaves us with … an ‘unslaked craving for transcendence’. This is by design. If we were able to find lasting satisfaction in earthly pleasure, then we would never see our need for God. … Our dissatisfaction should point us back to God – not away from Him, but toward Him. … The world is not enough. Ecclesiastes does not show us this to make us discouraged or depressed, but to drive us back to God. This is not all there is. We were made for another world. There is a God in heaven, who sent His Son to save us and then to satisfy us.”
– Philip  G. Ryken, Why Everything Matters

Main Idea (Question): Why are we not happy?
